Oxford Botanic Garden & Arboretum
This beautiful mirror features an image of the Mandrake plant, based on an 18th century engraving made from the Vienna Dioscorides (c. 515 CE). For more than 4000 years, the mandrake has been the most (in)famous drug plant in Western culture, largely due to the mythology surrounding its human figure-shaped roots. It can be founded at the Oxford Botanic Garden, where it has been grown since 1648.
