Inspired by the tranquillity of Oxford's historic botanical gardens, Metaphysic eau de parfum captures the cornucopia of aromas found in the garden's blooming landscapes and rare exotic plants.
With uplifting citrus and refined floral notes of rose, lily and magnolia, this fragrance makes the perfect spring and summer accessory. Metaphysic transitions beautifully through the autumn and winter seasons with its warm rich woody base of frankincense, amber, and musk giving this perfume year-round versatility.
Created in collaboration with artisanal perfumier 4160 Tuesdays. The perfume is inspired by plants recorded in the Garden from 1648, and has opening top notes of citrus, kumquat and bergamot, middle note layers of elegant rose, magnolia and lily, and a warm woody base of frankincense, amber and musk.
Simon Hiscock, Director of the Oxford Botanic Garden, says:
“Visitors to our 400-year old Garden, founded as a physic garden for teaching students herbal medicine, regularly comment on the incredible aromas they experience during their visit, from the bold scent of roses to the delicate fragrance of lilies, to the heady smell of citrus blossom. Developing our very first perfume, Metaphysic, was an opportunity to capture this sensory experience. Metaphysic will evoke memories of the Garden long after your visit.”
4160 Tuesdays is an artisan perfumery based in West London where perfumer, Sarah McCartney, has been hand-making adventurous scents at our studio since 2011.

Pickup
Our Pickup service is a convenient way for you to order online and collect your purchase in person at the Museum. Simply select the Pickup option at checkout.
You will be notified when your order is ready for collection. Please don't come to the museum to collect until you have received the email notification. We ask that you collect your Pickup order from the Ashmolean Shop (Level -1) before 4pm.
Once you have received the collection notification, we will hold your order for you up to 2 weeks. Please ensure that you visit the Museum to collect your order within 2 weeks.
The Online Shop team operates between Monday-Friday 10:00-16:00, so please allow time for us to prepare your order for collection, particularly at busy times of the year. We aim to have your order ready for collection within 72 hours.

been dispatched. In addition, while we endeavour to get your parcel to you as quickly as possible, you may experience delays through your local postal service.

All our UK orders are dispatched via Royal Mail First Class post or DHL, and the shipping cost will be calculated at checkout based on the weight of the items included in the order.
All International orders are dispatched using DHL DDP (delivered duties paid). Shipping cost, duties and taxes will be calculated at checkout and added to the value of your order. We offer a flat rate of shipping according to delivery address location. The duties and taxes will be calculated according to the value, Country of Origin, and product type of the order contents, as well as local VAT.
Additional local charges, such as Goods and Services Tax (GST), may be applicable and will be charged to the recipient at customs. Customs policies vary for each country, so it is advised you contact your local customs office for further information.

Weight Restrictions
