These gold-finished cufflinks take their design from the botanical artwork of May Morris' 1879 study of an oriental poppy. Perfect for adding refined artistic character to formal wear.

These gold May Morris cufflinks have been produced to accompany the upcoming special exhibition In Bloom: How Plants Changed Our World on display at the Ashmolean from 19 March to 16 August 2026.

This design is framed to mimic the outline of a poppy flower with refined gold accents to add a luxurious finishing touch, with a rotating oval back for ease of use. Comes well presented inside of an Ashmolean-branded leatherette display box with gilt accents. Making these a great gift idea.

The timeless floral shape is perfect for formal occasions and adds a touch of classic art history to your attire.

May Morris (1862–1938) is recognised today as a pioneer of the Arts and Crafts movement, a leading exponent of decorative needlework and a campaigner for women artists. Despite being one of the foremost practitioners of her generation, it was design that May described as ‘the very soul and essence of beautiful embroidery’. One of the largest collections of May’s designs, from roughly sketched ideas to finished patterns, is held by the Ashmolean Museum.

Exclusive to the Ashmolean Museum.
