Ashmolean Museum Oxford

Bear Is Going To Work Mug

£10.00

Start your day with a touch of rock and roll flair using this vibrant china mug. It showcases artwork inspired by the Ashmolean Museum's exhibition This Is What You Get: Stanley Donwood, Radiohead, Thom Yorke, perfect for enjoying your morning tea or coffee.

A must have homeware souvenir for any Radiohead fan, this mug features a full colour design of a bright red sea and light blue sky, depicting two bears, in the cartoon style closely associated with the band. That originated from the artistic collaboration between Stanley Donwood and the band's frontman Thom Yorke. One bear is dressed as a grim reaper figure, with full matching black cloak and large scythe heading towards the other white bear stranded on a melting glacier.

A beloved classic among fans, the Radiohead bear logo was never featured on official album covers but appeared in different forms across promotional videos, artwork, and graphics on the Radiohead.com website during the early 2000s. The bear motif was also referenced in the instrumental track titled 'Hunting Bears' on Kid A’s follow-up album, Amnesiac (2001). Although the Radiohead bear appears in numerous styles and variations, it consistently showcases its signature carnivorous grin, upright ears, and wide, unblinking eyes.

Mug measures 12cm wide including handle.

100% dishwasher proof and microwave friendly. Proudly decorated in the UK.
