Produced by Duchess China 1888 in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent, this handcrafted mug uses centuries-old fine bone china craftsmanship to give life to May Morris' floral artwork. A classic traditional pairing of Morris pattern design with fine china tableware, made exclusively for the Ashmolean museum.
This product is part of the exhibition collection that accompanies In Bloom: How Plants Changed Our World a special exhibition on display at the Ashmolean Museum from 19 March - 16 August 2026. The decorative design draws directly from the work of May Morris, an artist - along with her father William - whose works are no stranger to adorning fine pieces of homeware and tableware, such as this mug.
Made out of UK-sourced clay from Cornwall, this bone china mug stands out as an heirloom quality piece of kitchen and tableware, perfect for collectors, mug connoisseurs, and Morris & Co fans looking to add another piece to their collection that can be cherished for many years to come.
This product is dishwasher and microwave safe, although the manufacturer recommends to hand wash only to best preserve condition.
The impeccable craftsmanship of this bone china mug means appreciating this piece goes beyond admiring the artistry adorning the item's surface. For over 135 years, Duchess China 1888 have been producing quality bespoke fine bone china and are the last authentic producers remaining in the United Kingdom. Any waste clay is gathered up during production and sent back to the quarry in Cornwall for recycling into new clay so that there is zero waste in the process.
