Crafted from pewter and plated in 22ct gold, this elegant Greek ring is made to resemble the bodies of two golden dolphins, connected side-by-side by their noses.
The ring is adjustable to fit your preference, and comes supplied in a clear blister mounted to an information card.
Across the Roman and Greek empires, people worshipped hundreds of different gods, goddesses, demi gods and spirits. Their images would appear on architecture, houshold items and jewellery.
In ancient Greece, dolphins were not just animals but were considered demigods and held a special, almost cult-like status. They were often depicted in art, sculpture, and pottery, symbolizing their deep connection with the gods, particularly Apollo and Poseidon. The belief that harming a dolphin was akin to offending the gods led to the idea that killing one could be punishable by death. Dolphins were seen as messengers of the gods and were deeply associated with the processes of life, death, and rebirth. Their ability to transition between the air-breathing world of humans and the terrifying abyss beneath the waves further solidified their divine status.
