Sir Francis Chantrey And The Ashmolean Museum.

Books
£3.00
The Ashmolean Museum's collection of Chantrey's work is the largest in the world, and came directly from the artist's studio following his death in 1841. It is here, therefore, that the visitor can best appreciate the qualities that made him famous. The collection comprises over 170 works in plaster produced by Chantrey between 1810 and 1841. These statues, busts, and reliefs are full-size. Sometimes they are finished works in their own right, more typically they are the final model from which the artist and his assistants made works in marble and bronze. 63 pages 26.5cm x 20cm x 0.6cm
