Oxford Botanic Garden & Arboretum
An 11 x 14" print of Cactus Nopal, just one of the illustrated plants featured in the exclusive Dillenius Collection. Inspired by the Hortus Elthamensis, which was published in 1732.
Hortus Elthamensis is a very rare book that describes exotic plants cultivated by the wealthy, early eighteenth-century apothecary James Sherard (1666-1738) at Eltham, Kent. It was written and illustrated by the German botanist Johann Jacob Dillenius (1684-1747) before he became the first Sheradian Professor of Botany at Oxford in 1734.
The print fits perfectly into one of our mini print frames.
Dimensions: 27.9 x 35.6cm
