Japanese Iris Silk Scarf

The Japanese screen silk scarf depicts a beautiful screen-print of irises, laid on luxurious crepe de chine 100% silk.

Screen-printing uses stencils, ink and squeegees to push colour through the cloth in the desired places. In China and Japan, the use of stencil was popular for decorating cloth. The Japanese improved this technique, and their use of fabric dyeing stencils, called katagami, was very similar to the screen printing technique of today. The hand-rolled hems add the finishing touch to this gorgeous design.
