No. 12 Viola by Gaspara da Salò Print

£35.00

Print of a detailed working drawing of a Viola by Gaspara da Salò, from The Hill Collection of Musical Instruments No. 12. This viola, like the Andrea Amati viola, has escaped the fate of other early large violas, which have been cut down to the modern size.

The elegant swell on front and back, the chunky scroll, and the long, upright fholes with eyes of almost equal size on top and bottom are typically Brescian.

Part of a range of reproduction drawings from the Hill Collection of Musical Instruments, where they are used by luthiers to replicate and repair stringed instruments.

You don't have to be a musician to appreciate these wonderful drawings which also make great wall art pieces.

The Hill Drawings are a made to order product and take about one week to produce and post. They arrive to us pre-rolled and securely packaged in a strong cardboard tube.

Exclusive to the Ashmolean Museum.
