No. 11 Viola Charles IX by Andrea Amati Print

£35.00

Print of a detailed working drawing of a Viola (Charles IX) by Andrea Amati, Cremona 1574, from The Hill Collection of Musical Instruments No. 11. Like the Andrea Amati violin, this viola came from the set of instruments made for the French court during the reign of Charles IX.

The Hills bought this viola between 1920 and 1925 from the maker and restorer Josef Vedral in The Hague. According to the Hill archives, it was in the collection of a count in Warsaw in the first half of the nineteenth century.
